$4 on Pink Vixen in Race 3 is the one we keep coming back to at the Gold Coast today. She sits off the speed from a tidy gate, the pace looks soft, and at that price we think there’s room to play. The track’s a Soft 5 with fine weather over it, so it’s not testing ground, just a bit of give. A few we like further down the card, but Pink Vixen is where the value sits for us. Plenty going on across the five we tipped, and that’s the one we want on top.

4. Pink Vixen $4.00

Barrier 2 · Off Pace · Soft pace

The favourite’s too short for the setup at $2.30. #1 Lyneham settles back and has to come from gate 8 with no real tempo on, so I don’t want odds-on money on a horse with the same problem. #4 Pink Vixen draws the rail at gate 2, ran second last start, and gets the cheaper run on a soft 5. At $4, give me her.

Race 4

1. Kojak $4.80

Barrier 2 · Midfield · Soft pace

Blinkers off first time is the hook here. #1 Kojak gets the rail at gate 2, ran third last start, and Brandon Lerena rides. With no real speed on, the favourite has to wind up from off the pace, while Kojak takes the soft midfield run from a good gate. $4.80 plays better than $2.40. I’m on him.

Race 5
2:19pm · 1800m · Hcp (C4) · 9 runners

4. Notabadjackup $5.00

Barrier 7 · Off Pace · No leader

Won last start with the blinkers going on, #4 Notabadjackup. #1 Easy Love settles off the pace too, so I won’t take $2.70 on the same trip. $5, take him.

Race 7
3:34pm · 1000m · Hcp (C2) · 10 runners

14. Cat Call $4.60

Barrier 5 · Off Pace · Soft pace

No genuine speed up front and both of these settle back, but I’ll take the overs here. #14 Cat Call won last start, gets Brandon Lerena from gate 5, and knows how to finish off. The favourite has the same problem from off the pace, so I’m not touching $2.60 when Cat Call gives me $4.60. Easy call.

Race 8
4:10pm · 1800m · Hcp (58) · 12 runners

1. Bow Tie Affair $5.00

Barrier 2 · Midfield · No leader

I’m with #1 Bow Tie Affair here. With no genuine leader, from gate 2 with the blinkers on he can push forward and find the front, while the favourite settles even further back from gate 8. $3.50 on the one giving up that ground isn’t for me. $5, on the speed.
