#10 Shark Park has been knocking the door down. He’s run second, fourth, and second in his last three, and that’s enough placings to tell me he’s ready to break through. There’s no genuine leader here, so settling midfield from gate 7 with Dylan Turner is the spot you want. The favourite at $4 has to come from gate 9 right at the back, and over 1800m that’s a lot to ask. $3.20, on him.

I’m on #6 Wedding Vow each-way at $8. He’s off a win last start, the nose roll goes on first time, and Hellyer rides from gate 6. The favourite at $2.25 is short enough over 1800m where plenty can go wrong, and I’d rather take four times the quote about a horse trying something new than odds-on about a market mover. $8, take the each-way.

The fav at $2.05 has one place from his last eight, and he settles back in a race without a genuine leader. #4 Watermelon does the same shape from the rail, keeps finding the placings, and the blinkers go on for Ray Dart. Same race for a quarter of the price at $9. I’m with him.

Rail, pace, genuine speed up front. #3 Arisphere fits. From gate 1 with the early speed, he lands in the box seat and rolls forward. Joy A Plenty has to come from gate 8 as a backmarker over 1000m, no thanks at $3.90. $3.70, easy.

2. Seams Logical $8.50

Yes please. #2 Seams Logical at $8.50 draws gate 2 and sits off the speed, and with a genuine tempo up front the setup is right. The favourite has to work across from gate 9 at $2.30, that’s a lot of grunt to lead and finish over 1000m. Seams Logical won last start, sticking with him.
