The prices tell the story at the Gold Coast today. Agadoo is into $2.25 in the second and Five Of Us sits at $3.00 in the opener, so the market has those two well covered. Where it pays is later on the card. We have $4.50 on Hey Daisy and $4.80 on Red Samovar, who has gate 13 to sort out before she gets into the race. Good 4 and fine overhead, so no excuses on either side of that. Four we’re keen on across the eight, and the two better prices are the ones we’d rather be holding.

There’s no genuine leader here, and over 2224m that usually turns into a grind late. That suits #7 Five Of Us, because she’s placed at her last four and keeps running home hard rather than needing the front. Blinkers and tongue tie stay on, and gate 8 over this trip is no issue. #6 Disgruntled has to do the work from gate 10 to beat her. Happy to take $3.

Where’s the value here? #7 Hey Daisy at $4.50. The favourite, #3 Artful Persuasion, maps in the same spot from gate 5 and hasn’t won in nine starts, while she’s got a second and a third in her last four. Sixth last start is the only knock, and at $4.50 I’ll wear it.

Same spot in the run, worse price. #7 Yes Donald Yes settles midfield at $3.60, and #15 Red Samovar settles midfield too, but she finishes off her races hard and won two starts back with Ryan Wiggins staying on. Gate 13 doesn’t worry me at $4.80. On her to win.
