Geelong Horse Racing Tips Fri 28/8/26
Big fields right through at Geelong, five races with a…

Good 4 at the Gold Coast and the market’s leaning on the wrong ones for mine. Fine day, fair track, so this is about price not the weather, and the short ones aren’t where I’m keen. Give me the ones the crowd has let go a bit. Steplika Lion at $7 in the opener and Lovecats out at $8.50 in Race 4 both read better than the market has them. Four we like across the card, and none of them are the popular pick. Where it pays here is backing your own read, not the money.
9. Steplika Lion $7.00
Barrier 3 · Midfield · No leader
No genuine leader here, so the $2.45 favourite has to burn petrol getting across from gate 7. #9 Steplika Lion draws the fence at gate 3, gets the softer run in behind, and the tongue tie goes on to help him see the trip out. He keeps hitting the line without much luck. At $7, I’d rather have him running over the top of them late.
8. Lovecats $8.50
Barrier 6 · Pace · Hot pace
#4 Gram is a leader at $2.60 with genuine speed lined up to test him. #8 Lovecats sits off the pace, won two starts back, and runs over the top of them when the speed up front folds. $8.50, easy.
4. Cigar Man $3.60
Barrier 3 · Midfield · No leader
The blinkers go on and that’s the hook. #4 Cigar Man draws the inside at gate 3, and with no genuine leader in this he can push forward and control it from a soft spot. He was placing well before the spell, so I’ll draw a line through the quiet first-up run and back the gear to sharpen him up. At $3.60, he’s the one I’m on.
16. Lennystar $8.50
Barrier 3 · Off Pace · Hot pace
Big price here. #16 Lennystar is $8.50 while the $3.70 favourite, #4 Red Code, has to burn to lead in a race full of speed. Lennystar settles off them from gate 3, ran second at his last two, and swoops home late. Have it.
