Cranbourne Horse Racing Tips Fri 9/10/26
Nine races at Cranbourne and we're only keen on one,…

Heavy 9 at Geelong with showers still coming through, so we’re racing on wet, testing ground all day. Aqua Storm looks the right one in Race 4, drawn 2 and sitting midfield, which is where you want to be on a deck like this. The thing that jumps out across the card is there’s barely a genuine leader in any of these races, so the ones who can find their own spot are the ones we like. That’s how we’re reading it. We want horses that handle the heavy going and don’t need the tempo to fall their way.
6. Tagamate $3.80
Barrier 4 · Off Pace · No leader
#6 Tagamate gets the blinkers on for this run and that’s the hook for me. He’s placed in each of his last three, and from gate 4 he settles closer than the favourite, who has to make his run from out wide in gate 7. There’s no genuine leader, but Somersault has the same problem at $2.70, so I’d rather take Tagamate at $3.80 on a heavy track. He’s the one.
18. Explosive Magic $7.00
Barrier 3 · Midfield · No leader
Plenty of overs here. #18 Explosive Magic is $7 while the favourite Gold Chalice sits at $4.80 from a worse gate. Explosive Magic drops into gate 3, ran second first-up off the spell, and gets Craig Newitt back on board. Second-up is when this bloke should be peaking. Happy to take him at the price.
4. Shades Of Stardom $10.00
Barrier 5 · Off Midfield · No leader
$1.24 for #3 Pray Tell with one run under his belt? Not for me. He’s a backmarker who still has to find the line on a heavy track, and #4 Shades Of Stardom maps to settle in front of him from gate 5. The winkers go on, Dean Yendall rides, and he’s been finding placings without a let-up suiting him. At $10, I’d rather take the each-way.
2. Aqua Storm $3.10
Barrier 2 · Midfield · No leader
No genuine leader and a soft draw out of gate 2, so #2 Aqua Storm lands a lovely spot while the rest sort out the lead. He’s placed at every start, returns second off the freshen, and Harry Coffey rides for Shane Jackson. The favourite has to do the work from gate 6 at $2.10, so on a heavy track I’d sooner have the better map at $3.10. On him.
1. Eleanor Dumont $4.00
Barrier 6 · Midfield · No leader
Two wins then a fourth last time, and Patrick Payne adds the ear muffs first time on #1 Eleanor Dumont. She settles midfield from gate 6 while the favourite Arizona Luck has to wind up from the tail in a race with no leader, which is the same problem at a similar price. On a heavy 9 I’d sooner have the better spot at $4. I’m with her.
8. Omamori $5.00
Barrier 6 · Midfield · No leader
John Allen back on #8 Omamori is the booking I want over this trip. He’s been finding the line, second last start off a couple of placings, and at 2440m on heavy ground that staying kick is the weapon. No genuine leader to chase, but he runs over the top of them late, while the fav #3 Customer Service has to do the same from off the speed at $8.50. $5, take him to win.
1. Champagne Jenni $4.40
Barrier 4 · Off Pace · No leader
#1 Champagne Jenni, second-up and ready, $4.40. Gate 4, Declan Bates aboard, and a late kick that suits a race with no genuine leader to chase. I’m on.
1. Impending War $7.50
Barrier 1 · Off Pace · Genuine pace
Genuine speed up front and #1 Impending War is the one who profits. He drops back from the rail and runs over the top of them late, while the favourite Whiskey Joe has to lead and hold on at $3.20. That’s a big ask in this tempo. $7.50, I’m with him.
