Waverley at $3 with gate 2 and Jaden Lloyd up. The fav has to do all the work from gate 11 over 2000m with no genuine leader in the race, and I’m not paying $3.80 for that trip. Waverley settles closer, gets the cheaper run, and Lloyd knows how to nurse one through midfield. Take Waverley.

Rail draw and the cross-over nose band on for Elusive Domina. The favourite is $3.50 from gate 8 and has to grind across to find the lead. That is short enough about a horse doing the work. At $4.20, Elusive Domina gets the inside trip. I’m on him.

Skip the favourite. Fortuneer is $3.20 and settles in the same spot Jacks And Soda does, only from gate 1. At $9, I’d rather have the price.
