Quiet midweek country card at Gatton, and we’re only keen on two of the nine here. It’s a Good 4 under an overcast sky, so nothing tricky about the ground for once. Both our picks race off the speed in fields with no clear leader, which means we want the tempo to fall apart out in front of them. Bon Ichi at $8 in the opener and Ezeiza at $9 in the last are the two worth a look, and they’re nice enough prices if the map plays our way.

Nine bucks for #10 Ezeiza catches my eye here with no clear leader to chase. He draws the rail, so Les Tilley can save every inch, drop in behind the speed, and let him come home over the top of them late. He ran second last start, so the finish is there. The favourite sits wider at $4.20 and has more work to do. I’m on Ezeiza at $9.
