$7 about #2 Resonant looks too good against a $2.45 favourite that’s only had one start. I don’t want short odds about a lightly raced horse on a Heavy 8, no thanks. Resonant ran second two back, Coffey rides from gate 4, and the cross-over nose band stays on. In a six-horse field with no real speed up front, midfield is right there. Each-way at $7.

7. Fearless Freddy $5.00

I’m with #7 Fearless Freddy. The favourite Madiyya is $3.70 and gets right back from gate 4 with no genuine speed on, that’s a lot to do on a Heavy 8. Fearless Freddy settles closer from gate 8, Jamie Mott on, third-up and ready. $5, on him.

7. Dirnaseer $6.00

Barrier 5 · Midfield · No leader

Easy. #7 Dirnaseer at $6 in a no-leader race where he should land handy from gate 5. The fav Flying Done has to make the running from gate 6 on a Heavy 8, and at $3.90 I’m not interested. Won his last, Holly Durnan sticks. Have him.

Barrier 1 · Off Pace · Soft pace

#7 Barari has won his last two, gets the rail, tongue tie on. I’d rather have $9.50 about him than $3.70 about the fav out wide in gate 8.

10. Khadime $7.50

Barrier 5 · Pace · No leader

Take #10 Khadime at $7.50. No genuine leader in this and from gate 5 he can roll forward and dictate, just back from a let-up to win and then a second last start. The favourite Duchess Zou at $3.10 has to do the same thing from off the pace and the rail. On a Heavy 8 with no speed up front, I want the horse who can be there.

5. It’s A Knockout $9.50

Blinkers off first time, cross-over nose band on first time. That’s a fair gear change on #5 It’s A Knockout. Fresh off a let-up after a quiet prep, but he won and placed a few in the campaign before that. Gate 4, Jabez Johnstone on. The favourite Elouyou at $4 settles in the same spot from gate 6, so you’re taking short money about a horse with the same map problem on a Heavy 8. $9.50, all over him.

15. Starzintheireyes $3.70

Barrier 5 · Midfield · No leader

Gate 5, third-up, no leader in this. That’s the setup. #15 Starzintheireyes has placed both runs since the let-up and gets Beau Mertens midfield from a clean draw, while the fav Shockletz has the same job from gate 1 on the fence and needs the splits to come. $3.70 to win on a Heavy 8, on him.

14. She’s Got The Cash $8.00

Don’t need much to go right at $8 about #14 She’s Got The Cash. She draws the rail in gate 3 while $5 favourite Brave Danza is stuck out in 16, a lot of work from the carpark on a Heavy 8 over 2000m. She’s placed every run this prep with a win in the middle, and Bates can have her closer off the inside. In a no-leader race she’ll come home strongest. Take her each-way.

Where’s the value in race 9? #13 Rosa Aotearoa at $3.70. Gate 1, leader’s role, tongue tie stays on, and she’s won her last two. Markdel at $5.50 has to settle off the speed from gate 6 and come around them on a Heavy 8. I like the leader on the fence.
