Launceston Horse Racing Tips Fri 16/10/26
Soft 5 at Launceston with the rail out 6m the…

Heavy 9 at Eagle Farm with the sun out, so the deck will be hard work but at least we can see what we’re doing. Stakes day too, with the Oxlade headlining and a few we’re keen on across the eight races we’ve gone in on. Welwal in the 1 is where it starts for me, drawn awkward but the right horse at the right price. From there it’s about finding the runners who can handle the heavy ground without being asked the question too early.
1. Welwal $5.00
Barrier 9 · Off Midfield · Soft pace
Soft, settling off midfield from gate 9, on a heavy track.
10. Say You Will $6.00
Barrier 8 · Backmarker · Hot pace
$6 for #10 Say You Will is the gamble I want here. He was second the run before his spell, came back with a sixth, and now goes second-up with ear muffs on and Craig Williams aboard. Hot tempo means he gets to come over them late from gate 8. The favourite at $4 settles back too from a better gate, but I’d rather take the bigger quote. I’m with Say You Will.
4. Newlook $7.00
Barrier 4 · Midfield · Genuine pace
I’m with #4 Newlook at $7 here. Kerrin McEvoy aboard, gate 4 lets him settle closer to the speed than the $2.35 favourite #7 Bella Montagna does from the rail. Each-way for mine.
14. Band Of Brothers $8.50
Barrier 9 · Leader · Soft pace
Soft, rolling forward from gate 9, on a heavy track.
8. She’s Got Pizzazz $5.00
Barrier 6 · Midfield · Soft pace
Soft, midfield trip from gate 6, on a heavy track.
8. Cormier $9.50
Barrier 4 · Off Pace · No leader
Where’s the value in race 7? #8 Cormier at $9.50. Two starts, a win and a second, stepping into a G1 with ear muffs back on and Bullock from gate 4. In a race with no genuine leader, the favourite Tron Bolt is $2.05 but settles five back from gate 8, same map shape as Cormier without the price. I’ll take the overs.
18. Regal Award $7.50
Barrier 8 · Midfield · Soft pace
$6 on #7 Headley Grange settling back in a soft-paced race on a Heavy 9 is too short. #18 Regal Award maps the same way at $7.50, won last start, barrier blanket back on for Cartwright. Same shape, bigger quote. I’m on him.
8. Zambardo $5.00
Barrier 4 · Midfield · No leader
Take #8 Zambardo at $5. He’s been building back into it since the spell, ran ninth first-up, sixth next, then second last start. The ear muffs go on pre-race, Ben Melham rides from gate 4, and over 2200m on a Heavy 9 with no genuine leader, the $2.05 favourite has the same map problem off two fourth placings. Bigger price, better trajectory.
