Darwin Horse Racing Tips Sat 18/7/26
Good track at Darwin and fine overhead, so this one comes down to price. The market’s happy to pile into the short ones down the card, but that’s not where we’re keen. Wallenda in Race 5 is the one we love at $6.50, drawn 2 with plenty of tempo up front to chase. Where the crowd wants odds-on, we’d sooner take the overs.

Blinkers go on #2 Vieri and that’s the hook for me over the mile. He settles just off midfield, only a few lengths back, so a soft tempo won’t leave him with much to do late. #4 Fury is short enough at $3.30 doing the early work up front. Take Vieri at $4.20.

No genuine leader, and the fav #2 I Loverain sits just as far back off it from the rail. So why take $3.80 there when #1 Romantic Love does the same job at $4, with blinkers and visors on and the late kick to swoop over the top? On him.

$2.35 for #1 Balastier to lead in a race with this much early speed? Not for me. The tempo looks hot up front, and that suits a horse dropping in just off it. #11 Wallenda broke through last start, drawn 2, and Bensley settles him midfield to run over the top when the leaders cook. $6.50, easy.

#2 If I Was You. Gate 3, blinkers on, Jason Lyon aboard, and he settles handy in a race with no clear leader up front. That lands him close enough to pounce when they let down late. At $2.60 I’m with him.

#2 Ichiban’s been building nicely, a couple of thirds then a win and a second last start. Blinkers stay on, he draws the rail, and with no genuine leader to chase he gets a cosy midfield run. Short at $2.10, but I’m with him.
