Good track up at Darwin and fine overhead, so no wet-track excuses here, the form holds up and you can back what you see. It’s a short card, six races, and we’re only keen on two of them. Si Senora at $9.50 in Race 3 is the sort of price we like from midfield in an 11-horse field, and Press Express drawn one in Race 4 gets in nicely at $5.50. The rest can wait, but there’s a bit of value for us in those two.

5. Si Senora $9.50

Barrier 5 · Midfield · Genuine pace

The fav’s too short for me at $2.15. #4 Yule Point sits off the pace from a wide gate and has to weave through genuine speed to make ground. Give me #5 Si Senora at $9.50 instead. She settles midfield with the winkers on, so she’ll be right on their hammer when they wind up. Big overs, and I’m happy to take the swing.

4. Press Express $5.50

Barrier 1 · Off Pace · Genuine pace

Genuine speed up front, gate 1, and the winkers go on: that setup suits #4 Press Express down to the ground. He can drop in behind the pace off the fence and pick them off late. Meanwhile the fav Luna Field has to work from a wide gate at $2.90. Give me the $5.50.
