Quiet card up at Darwin, so where’s the value? For us it’s just the one, Cinque Torri in Race 2. Track’s rated Good and the weather’s fine, so no excuses in the going. It’s a small race too, seven runners over 1100m, and the speed looks like it’ll be on early. That suits a horse happy to sit off them and pick them up late. At $8 for Cinque Torri, that’s the one we’re keen on, and the other five races can wait.

The speed looks hot up front and the favourite, #3 Arizona Activist, has to make it all from the fence at $2.45. That’s the run I want to be against. #1 Cinque Torri drops the tongue tie for the first time, jumps from gate 3, and gets right off them with Campbell Rawiller aboard, so a genuine tempo should carry him into it late. At $8 in a small field, I’m happy to take the one running home.
