Dalby Horse Racing Tips Thu 18/6/26

Boomtown Laddie in the 2 is the shortest of our six at Dalby, and at $3.10 we’re happy to be on a horse that should get the right run with no real leader in the race. It’s a Soft 5 and fine overhead, so this is more about prices than weather. A few of our picks sit at honest odds, the ones up around $7.50 and $10 later in the day are where it gets interesting. That’s where the value is, the longer ones if you’re keen on a few. So back the favourites where they’re fair, and have a look at the bigger prices in the back half if you want some upside.

3. Boomtown Laddie $3.10

Barrier 8 · Off Pace · No leader

$3.10 for #3 Boomtown Laddie is the kind of overs I’m chasing. No genuine leader here, so I want one that comes home hard, and he’s been finding the line, second a couple back. Gate 8 is the worry, but he can pick them off late. Jolly Japes at $2.90 has to make his own luck up front. Take Boomtown Laddie.

Race 3

7. Sugarfire $4.40

Barrier 3 · Off Pace · No leader

Yeah I’m on #7 Sugarfire here. He’s been knocking on the door, four thirds then broke through to win last start, and the 2000m suits him fine. No genuine leader, so I want one that runs over the top of them late, and that’s his go. The fav has the same problem from a wider gate, so I’m happy taking $4.40 on the one drawn 3 with the better cycle.

Race 4
1:40pm · 1000m · Hcp (55) · 10 runners

4. Standlee $3.10

Barrier 2 · Off Pace · Genuine pace

Genuine speed up front, and that’s exactly what #4 Standlee wants. He drops off them and runs over the top late, drawn 2 so he gets a soft trip into the race. He won two then ran a few placings before his let-up, so he comes back fresh. The fav has to roll along in front and do all the work. $3.10, I’m on him.

Race 5
2:15pm · 1000m · Hcp (55) · 9 runners

4. Xuanfeng $4.50

Barrier 6 · Midfield · Genuine pace

The favourite’s the leader, but he’s been beaten a few times and comes back off a spell, so $3.10 is too short for me. #4 Xuanfeng won last start, gets the nasal strip on, and with genuine speed up front he can come home over the top from midfield. From gate 6 he gets his chance. $4.50, I’m with him.

Race 7
3:25pm · 1400m · Hcp (55) · 10 runners

8. Lift’N’Mehigher $7.50

Barrier 8 · Off Pace · No leader

Where’s the value in race 7? #8 Lift’N’Mehigher at $7.50. No genuine leader, so I want one that can pick them off late, and he’s got that late kick. Gate 8 is the worry, but at that price I’ll take the risk.

Race 9
4:40pm · 1400m · Hcp (Bm62) · 10 runners

6. Jungle Fever $10.00

Barrier 5 · Midfield · Genuine pace

Blinkers and visors go on #6 Jungle Fever, and that gear can find more. He settles midfield off genuine speed, drawn 5, while #2 Cool Music has to swoop from gate 9 at $2.15. $10, I like him here.
