Caulfield Horse Racing Tips Sat 27/6/26

Nine races at Caulfield and we’ve landed on four worth a look. The fields are big right through, eighteen, nineteen, twenty runners a race, so this is a card where the gates and the luck in running matter more than the market. It’s a Soft 7 and overcast, nothing too testing, but those big numbers mean we want horses that can sweep home late. Every one we’ve picked is an off-pace type at a price, from $5.50 on Amleto in the 4 up to $9.50 on He’ll Rip, so we’re happy to take our chances and let them finish over the top.

Race 4

9. Amleto $5.50

Barrier 7 · Midfield · No leader

Blinkers go on for the first time, and that’s the hook with #9 Amleto. He’s won his last start, with a third and a second before that, and John Allen stays on for Ciaron Maher. No genuine leader means this turns into a grind late, which suits a horse that knows how to finish off. The favourite Savour The Dream is no value at $4.80 from a similar midfield spot. I’m on Amleto at $5.50.

15. Mad About Magnus $8.50

Barrier 6 · Off Pace · Genuine pace

$8.50 for #15 Mad About Magnus is the kind of price I’m chasing. Genuine speed up front in a 14-horse dash sets it up for a swooper, and he comes in off two straight wins. The fav Set Me Loose has to lead and hold from $3.50. I’m with the closer.

Race 7
3:30pm · 1700m · Hcp (Bm78) · 15 runners

3. Think Giant $7.00

Barrier 6 · Off Pace · Soft pace

The fav Madiyya is no value to me at $4.20, settling midfield with the same off-pace question. #3 Think Giant maps just behind her but resumes a gelding with the ear muffs and nose band on first time, and a soft tempo plays into his late kick. At $7, he’s the better gamble. I’m on him.

Race 8
4:05pm · 1400m · Quayclean Hcp · 14 runners

17. He’ll Rip $9.50

Barrier 1 · Off Pace · Genuine pace

Genuine speed up front sets this for a swooper, and #17 He’ll Rip drops in off the rail to settle back and pounce late. The fav Big Swinger has to do it from a worse gate at $2.30; I’d rather take $9.50 each-way and let the tempo bring him into it.
