Geelong Horse Racing Tips Fri 28/8/26
Big fields right through at Geelong, five races with a…

Markets love a well-backed one, but there is not a lot to love at the top of these Caulfield lists today. Soft 7 and overcast, and most of our card sits with off-pace and midfield types the crowd tends to talk past. Six we like across the nine races, and every one of them is a price rather than a short one, from $3.70 on Lady Verity out to $8 for Taka Speed. Where’s the value here? Not with the favourites. It’s the ones getting back and finishing over the top on testing ground, so we are happy to take them on.
1. Like A Drifter $4.20
Barrier 7 · Off Pace · Hot pace
#1 Like A Drifter is flying, five wins on the trot, and a hot early pace is exactly what a get-back horse wants. He settles off them and picks them off late while the leaders cook each other. Tongue tie stays on, Tala Hutchinson sticks. The favourite Cruiserweight is $3.40 doing the same job from a worse gate. Give me $4.20.
6. Lady Verity $3.70
Barrier 7 · Off Pace · Hot pace
#6 Lady Verity is the query I keep landing on. She won her last two before the freshen, so she resumes in top order, and with genuine speed up front she gets the race run to suit a horse that settles off them. Jamie Mott sticks from gate 7. At $3.70, happy to be on her.
10. Belle Savoir $4.80
Barrier 8 · Midfield · No leader
Blinkers on for the first time is the hook. #10 Belle Savoir won last start and gets the gear now for Nick Ryan. No clear leader here, so she settles closer than Amleto, who has to give her a start from further back at $2.45. I’ll take the $4.80.
7. Paddypie $6.50
Barrier 1 · Midfield · No leader
$2.35 for #1 Decalogue leaves me cold in a no-leader race. It settles back and has to make its own luck from a wider gate. #7 Paddypie sits closer from gate 1, has won two of his last three, and Jake Noonan rides for Patrick Payne. At $6.50, I’m on him to win.
6. Watchme Win $7.00
Barrier 6 · Midfield · Genuine pace
Genuine speed up front and #6 Watchme Win is the one who profits, settling midfield to run at a favourite that has to push on-pace from gate 9. Lachlan Neindorf sticks. $7, I’m on.
15. Taka Speed $8.00
Barrier 6 · Midfield · Genuine pace
I don’t need much to go right at $8. A genuine tempo drags #15 Taka Speed into it from midfield, while the favourite First Chorus has to wind up from off the pace at $2.70. Ryan Houston sticks for Matt Laurie from gate 6. Happy to be on each-way.
