Caulfield Horse Racing Tips Sat 8/8/26

Four we like at Caulfield, and the prices are what keep us interested. Soft 6 and overcast, so it is not a bog, just enough give to matter. Celtics at $2.70 in the 2 is short, but he is drawn 5 with plenty of speed on around him, and that suits a horse who can settle midfield and finish over the top. Davida is the one we keep coming back to at $4.50. Nobody in that race really wants to lead, and if she can cross from gate 10 and dictate her own tempo, that price looks too big for a horse in charge. Bazaball Rewarded and First Chorus fill it out. No standout on this card, just four worth a look and a couple of prices that read better than they should.

Race 2
12:55pm · 1500m · Handicap · 12 runners

11. Celtics $2.70

Barrier 5 · Midfield · Hot pace

Hot speed in a 12-horse field at Caulfield and #11 Celtics settles midfield off gate 5, which is exactly where you want to be when they go hard up front. He’s been placed at three of his last four and Neindorf keeps the ride for Price and Kent Jnr. Botanical Boy sits in the same part of the race at $4 without doing anything Celtics hasn’t. At $2.70 I’m sticking with him.

Race 3
1:30pm · 1000m · Handicap · 6 runners

5. Bazaball Rewarded $4.20

Barrier 5 · Pace · Soft pace

Tongue tie goes on and there’s no real speed engaged over the 1000m. #5 Bazaball Rewarded can sit right on the pace from gate 5, while #6 Cavalry Girl has to do all the work in front at $2.70. Give me the $4.20 and the softer run. Have her.

Race 4
2:05pm · 1600m · Handicap · 11 runners

2. Davida $4.50

Barrier 10 · Pace · No leader

Who actually leads this one? Nobody wants it, and #2 Davida will. Blake Shinn just has to get her across from gate 10. That’s the risk, and at $4.50 I’m happy to wear it.

Race 8
4:35pm · 1800m · Handicap · 10 runners

8. First Chorus $2.60

Barrier 6 · Off Pace · Hot pace

#8 First Chorus has won five of her last nine, and with them going hard up front she gets to pick them off late. #5 Litzdeel does that dirty work from the rail at $6. $2.60, easy.
