Carnarvon Horse Racing Tips Fri 19/6/26

Good track and fine weather at Carnarvon, so this one is about the pace, not the ground. We’ve only got two we’re keen on, and both are bigger prices the market seems happy to leave alone. Race 6 looks like a no-leader affair, which is why we keep coming back to $7 for Never Sober sitting off it. Shooting Kontiki at $9.50 in the last reads the same way, plenty of speed drawn around it and nobody wanting the front, and that’s where the value hides on a card like this.

4. Never Sober $7.00

Barrier 5 · Off Pace · No leader

No genuine leader here, so it comes down to who gets the better run off the speed. #4 Never Sober draws to do that from gate 5, the winkers go on, and Rocky Cheung sticks. The favourite has the same problem from a worse gate, drawn 9 and settling midfield, so I won’t take $2.05 on one with no map edge. Never Sober has placed a few times through his prep and gives us $7. Take him to win.

1. Shooting Kontiki $9.50

Barrier 3 · Off Pace · No leader

$9.50 for #1 Shooting Kontiki is the kind of overs I’m chasing. He won his last start, Alex Hearn stays on, and gate 3 gives him a clean run. With no genuine leader this becomes a dash home, and he finishes over the top of them. The favourite is back in the same spot off the speed but only pays $2.90. I’d rather take the bigger price on the one that quickens late.
