Long card up at Cairns today, ten races, but we’ve only landed on the one. Fine overhead and a Soft 7 underfoot, nothing tricky about the track. Lean Eagle in the last is the one we’re keen on. He’ll be getting back from gate 9, but the pace up front looks hot, and that’s exactly the sort of race a backmarker wants to strike. Happy to take the $3 on him.

#2 Lean Eagle knows how to pick them off late, and hot speed up front is exactly what a backmarker wants. Gate 9 means he’s giving them a start, but with the leaders likely to cook each other, he gets the race run to suit. Ryan Wiggins stays on, and at $3 I’m happy to let the speed set it up for him.
