Good track and fine skies at Bundaberg, the kind of day you want before you open the form. Only six races on the card and the Bundaberg Cup is the one everyone will circle, but we went through it and came out with just two we’re keen on. Capiana in the 2 at $5.50 is worth a look from a small field, and Blame The Bubbles in the 4 at $4.80 gets her chance in a race with no obvious leader. No standouts to hang your hat on here, so it’s a thin card. We’re happy to play the couple that read well and leave the rest.

1. Capiana $5.50

Barrier 3 · Midfield · Genuine pace

The favourite’s $1.70 and looking to lead a five-horse field, but the tempo here is genuine, so Triple Spirit won’t get it soft out in front. #1 Capiana settles off them from gate 3, ran second last start, and pays $5.50 to pick up the pieces late. I’m happy to take the overs against the odds-on one rather than swallow that quote. On him.

Race 4
3:12pm · 1212m · Handicap · 7 runners

6. Blame The Bubbles $4.80

Barrier 6 · Off Pace · No leader

$4.80 for #6 Blame The Bubbles is the kind of overs I’m chasing. She settles back from gate 6, but she really lets down late, and the nasal strip going on for a bit more air only helps that finish. #7 The Fruitologist is only $2.80 off a single win, so I’d sooner take her at the bigger quote. Have her.
