Two we like at Broome and that is about it from the eight. The card reads thin, but the ones we have landed on are worth a look. Track is Good and the weather is fine, so this is a straight test with no excuses in the ground. Wolfman gets our attention in the 4 at $4.00 over 2070m, drawn 6 in a nine-horse field with no obvious leader, and that sort of race can fall apart nicely for a horse settling midfield. Then Faberge Tzar in the 5, where $6.00 looks generous from gate 3. Rest of the card can go through to the keeper.

Race 4
4:13pm · 2070m · Handicap · 9 runners

3. Wolfman $4.00

Barrier 6 · Midfield · No leader

No genuine leader here, so the tempo suits a horse settling midfield. #3 Wolfman gets the blinkers, has run first or second in three of his last four, and Jefferson Tsang stays on for Sue Olive. He’s drawn 6, which is fine in a nine-horse field over 2070m. Street Maschino wants to go forward but hasn’t won since way back. I’m on Wolfman at $4.

Race 5
4:49pm · 1435m · Handicap · 11 runners

2. Faberge Tzar $6.00

Barrier 3 · Midfield · Soft pace

#1 Big Shots is $4.20 and settles midfield, only he has to do it from gate 9. There’s not much speed on here, so coming from behind is the hard way to win it. #2 Faberge Tzar has the same job from gate 3 and pays $6. Easy.
