Belmont Horse Racing Tips Wed 1/7/26

Belmont’s a Heavy 8 with showers about, and that’s the whole story today. Testing ground and a card full of races where nobody wants to lead, so the tempo’s there for horses that get back and run home late. That’s where we keep landing. Gee Tee in Race 6 is drawn wide at $7.50, but in a no-leader affair over 1400 he gets the run of the race from the back, and the price is worth a look. A few of ours are the same shape, backmarkers and midfield types who’ll be storming while the on-pacers stop in the going. Where it pays here is patience.

Race 2
3:39pm · 1000m · Golf Mdn · 12 runners

4. Deepest Desire $3.80

Barrier 7 · Midfield · Genuine pace

William Pike is the hook here. He climbs aboard #4 Deepest Desire, who comes back fresh off a third and a fifth either side of a spell and settles midfield from gate 7. There’s genuine speed on, so a horse sitting midfield gets dragged into the race nicely on a Heavy 8. Sunset Session parks in the same spot at $2.35, and I’d sooner take Pike at $3.80. Happy to be on him.

Race 3
4:14pm · 1200m · Resourcing Mdn · 12 runners

1. Long Laugh $5.50

Barrier 2 · Midfield · No leader

Blinkers on, drawn 2, and no genuine speed to worry him. #1 Long Laugh can bounce across from the inside and land the box seat. He keeps finding the line without quite winning, and at $5.50 I’d much rather him than #2 Win For Buster grinding across from a wider gate at $2.40. Take him each-way.

Race 4
4:52pm · 1000m · C1 Hcp · 9 runners

1. Dark Avalanche $8.00

Barrier 4 · Midfield · Soft pace

The favourite’s no good to me at $3.30. #2 Flip The Pattys won once and now has to come from gate 9 as a backmarker, which is a big ask first-up. #1 Dark Avalanche gets the tongue tie on for the first time, sits closer from gate 4, and has the late kick to run over the top of them if this soft tempo lets the leaders dawdle. $8, easy.

Race 5
5:30pm · 1000m · Hcp (C5) · 9 runners

5. Under Influence $8.50

Barrier 9 · Backmarker · No leader

Eight and a half bucks and we don’t need much to go right. #5 Under Influence gets the blinkers on and has found the placings a couple of times lately. No genuine leader means a soft tempo, and settling just off them he’s close enough to pounce late. The fav gives me nothing at $2.90. $8.50, I’m on.

Race 6Best Bet
6:10pm · 1400m · Hcp (C1) · 13 runners

9. Gee Tee $7.50

Barrier 9 · Backmarker · No leader

#9 Gee Tee comes off a second first-up from a spell, and I’m happy to follow that. No genuine leader turns this into a sprint home, and she gets back with the late kick to swoop over the top of them. #7 Conchetta’s Dream sits just as deep at $2.70, so I won’t take the short one for the same run. $7.50, on her.

Race 7
6:46pm · 1650m · Hcp (Rs0ly) · 17 runners

2. Our Mate Archie $8.50

Barrier 9 · Midfield · Soft pace

#2 Our Mate Archie sits midfield from gate 9 and gets the better run of the two. #8 Esta Mirando has to wind up from the back and out wide at $2.35, which is short for that map on heavy ground. Give me the $8.50.
