Ballarat Horse Racing Tips Sun 16/8/26

Six-race card at Ballarat and we’ve landed on just one, so don’t expect a full book here. It’s a Heavy with fine weather overhead, which means the ground is still testing even if the sky isn’t adding to it. Gripping is the one we’re keen on in the 2, out to 3400m and drawn 8, but he maps to lead and the tempo looks genuine. At $4.00 that’s fair rather than generous, so take it or leave it on your own read of the wet.

3. Gripping $4.00

Barrier 8 · Leader · Genuine pace

Genuine speed in a 3400m staying race on heavy ground, and #3 Gripping is the one who can dictate it. He’s been knocking on the door all prep, seconds and thirds without quite landing one, and Jordan Hart can bounce him across from gate 8 and make them all come to him. Bismarck at $3 has to run him down from off the pace over that trip in the wet. I’d rather have Gripping in front at $4.
