Launceston Horse Racing Tips Fri 16/10/26
Soft 5 at Launceston with the rail out 6m the…
Atomic Time is the one that jumped out at Balaklava, a maiden sprinter drawn 12 in Race 4 and still paying $7.50. Good 4 and overcast, so nothing extreme underfoot, but the wide gate is doing all the work on that price. He does not need the lead, he just needs a clean run off midfield and a genuine tempo in front, and that is exactly how the race looks. Four we are keen on across the day, and the Cup is worth a look too, but Atomic Time is where the money goes.
1. Atomic Time $7.50
Barrier 12 · Off Midfield · Genuine pace
#1 Atomic Time has three seconds in his last five and still hasn’t got his head in front. At $7.50 that’s the profile I like in a maiden, and genuine speed over 1050m gives him a race run to suit from off midfield. Gate 12 is the knock, he’ll have to work across early. #9 Canny Miss at $3.10 resuming off one run is short enough for me. Take the overs.
3. Suit Of Wands $3.30
Barrier 5 · Pace · Soft pace
Nobody really wants to lead here, and #3 Suit Of Wands gets the blinkers on from gate 5. He won two back, ran second last start, and at $3.30 to roll forward and dictate the race, he’s good enough for me.
11. Cicala $3.20
Barrier 2 · Pace · Genuine pace
Speed on or not, #11 Cicala can bounce out from gate 2 with Jamie Melham and dictate this one. #1 Air Assault has to make his ground from gate 7 in a field of 16. $3.20, have it.
8. Koratora $7.50
Barrier 7 · Pace · Soft pace
Where’s the value in this one? #3 Uptown Monk at $2.90 has to find room from midfield in a field of 12, not for me. #8 Koratora goes forward from gate 7, nobody else wants to lead, and she ran second two starts back. $7.50.
