Launceston Horse Racing Tips Fri 16/10/26
Soft 5 at Launceston with the rail out 6m the…

Fine day but a Heavy 8 underfoot at Bairnsdale, so where does the value sit? We went right through the card and came away with seven worth a look, none of them a standout, just races that read well. Big fields early with twenty lining up in the maidens, so gates and the wet ground matter more than usual. Nothing short and silly either, most of ours sit at a price, and we’re happy to take them on their merits.
1. Admire Mercury $8.00
Barrier 4 · Off Midfield · Soft pace
Soft, settling off midfield from gate 4, on a heavy track.
2. Bank Heist $8.50
Barrier 1 · Off Pace · Soft pace
The favourite’s no good to me at $2.45. #2 Bank Heist gets the rail, Jack Martin sticks and the winkers stay on, and he’s been hitting the frame with a third and a second not long ago. Yes he settles back, but so does the fav, and I’d rather take $8.50 for the one drawn to save ground than odds-on for the same kind of run at a quarter of the price. Overs for me.
3. Admire Fluke $5.50
Barrier 4 · Backmarker · Soft pace
Blinkers go on and he’s resuming off a freshen for Matt Laurie, Patrick Moloney staying put. #3 Admire Fluke won and placed twice before the spell, and from gate 4 he settles closer than #12 Give Some Lip, who’s also getting back but from the rail at $2.45. Give me the fresh one at $5.50.
12. Chateau Vega $6.00
Barrier 5 · Pace · No leader
Nothing here really wants to lead, so the front is there for #12 Chateau Vega. He can roll forward from gate 5, blinkers going on for Matt Laurie, and over a staying 2200m with no genuine speed the horse in front takes catching. I’d rather have him bowling along at $6 than take $3.40 for #8 Winter Grace back in the midfield ruck. On the leader.
10. Laura’s Gold $3.90
Barrier 1 · Backmarker · Soft pace
Barrier 1 is the whole story here. #10 Laura’s Gold jumps from the fence with Thomas Stockdale able to save ground the whole way, and at $3.90 he’s actually shorter than #4 Pantoja out in gate 4 at $4.60. The worry is he’s been well beaten his last few starts, but from the inside on a heavy track I’m happy to cop that risk. Have it.
2. Headstock $6.50
Barrier 7 · Midfield · No leader
Headstock. Six-and-a-half bucks. The favourite’s the one I’m swerving here, $3 for #4 I Said So off the wide gate in 11 with nothing wanting to lead. #2 Headstock maps midfield from gate 7 for Jett Stanley, has won and placed since a spell, and on a heavy track over the short trip he gives us more than double the price for a similar run. On it.
4. Racetothebottom $3.90
Barrier 3 · Off Midfield · No leader
Who wants it in a no-leader sprint? #4 Racetothebottom, fresh off a spell with the ear muffs on and drawn low in gate 3. He won and placed before the break and settles close while the rest sort out the lead. $3.90, I’m on the fresh one.
