Round 22 is where the AFL’s new top 10 finals race gets serious, with the top six safe and the wildcard scramble for seventh to tenth wide open. This is the first season of the wildcard round, so finishing in the six earns a straight run into September while seventh to tenth are left to play off, and that changes what every result means from here.
