AFL Finals Fixture 2026

The 2026 Toyota AFL Finals Series runs across five weekends, from the new Wildcard Round through to the Grand Final at the MCG on Saturday 26 September. Ten teams started. Below is every game, with results as they land.

Wildcard Round, 28 and 29 August

  • Western Bulldogs 96 defeated Collingwood 93, MCG
  • Carlton 74 defeated Melbourne 55, MCG

Qualifying and Elimination Finals, 3 to 5 September

  • Qualifying: Hawthorn 72 defeated Fremantle 40, Optus Stadium
  • Elimination: Geelong 107 defeated Carlton 74, MCG
  • Elimination: Adelaide 90 defeated Western Bulldogs 68, Adelaide Oval
  • Qualifying: Sydney 141 defeated Brisbane 88, SCG

Hawthorn and Sydney go straight through to preliminary finals. Carlton and the Western Bulldogs are out.

Semi Finals, 11 and 12 September

  • Fremantle 120 defeated Geelong 106, Optus Stadium
  • Brisbane 144 defeated Adelaide 91, the Gabba

Fremantle and Brisbane advanced to preliminary finals. Geelong and Adelaide are out.

Preliminary Finals, 18 and 19 September

  • Fremantle 83 defeated Sydney 71, SCG
  • Brisbane 131 defeated Hawthorn 122, MCG

Both travelling sides won, and both won by less than two goals. Sydney and Hawthorn are out.

Grand Final, 26 September

  • Fremantle vs Brisbane, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Saturday 26 September, 2:30pm AEST

Fremantle go in as minor premiers. Brisbane are chasing a third premiership in a row.

How the 2026 finals system works

Ten teams make the finals for the first time in 2026. Seventh through tenth play off in the Wildcard Round, with the two winners going into elimination finals against the sides that finished fifth and sixth. The top four play qualifying finals, where the winners get a week off and a home preliminary final, and the losers drop into home semi finals. Everything from the elimination finals onward is sudden death.
