Melbourne vs Carlton Prediction
Carlton are favourite and I’m not going to argue with…

West Coast won the round ten meeting by seventeen points, and that result is the only thing propping this line up. It happened months ago. Greater Western Sydney are the better side by a distance now, and I have Sunday’s gap well past what the market is asking.

Both sides have played months of football since that meeting, and only one of them has been competitive in it.
West Coast won that one by seventeen points, so I am not going to pretend it did not happen, and I am not going to invent a reason it no longer counts. What I have is what both sides have done since. The Giants have dropped three of their last five, and two of those went down by a kick. West Coast have been beaten in all five and shipped triple figures twice in the run. I trust the last month over a game played months ago.
This is the bit worth arguing, because 31.5 is a lot to give up. The Giants have not been perfect. They have lost games in this run. But two of their three losses in that run went down by a kick, and in those they were still in it at the last change. When West Coast lose, they get opened up, and twice in five it has been a hundred against them. Start from a side whose losses are mostly a kick, put it against a side whose bad day is a hundred, and seven goals is not the top of my range. It is the middle of it. If you think 42 is greedy, the honest answer is that the buffer is only ten and a half points, and I want it.
Harley Reid was cleared this week after a corked leg, and he is the one Eagle who can turn a quarter on his own. He is also not the reason I am on this. He had 29 touches against Collingwood while nowhere near full fitness and West Coast still lost by nineteen. Him being out there makes them better and does not move my number.
The Eagles cross the country and back up on a short break, and I am not going to pretend a flight decides a game like this. It just does not help a side that has been leaking for a month. The Giants move it by hand through traffic and mark it inside fifty rather than bombing it long and hoping, and West Coast have not held a defensive shape for four quarters against anyone in that time. Give a side this good the ball on their own ground and the afternoon gets away from you in a hurry.
I’m tipping Greater Western Sydney to beat West Coast by around 42 points at ENGIE Stadium. The Eagles have not held a side out for four quarters in a month, and this is the wrong opponent to sort that out against.
Greater Western Sydney by about seven goals is the call, and I am happy to give up the 31.5 to get there. The risk is honest: the Giants have dropped three of their last five themselves, and a side laying that many points has to actually turn up and put the foot down. I think this is the week they do it.
Jack Williams two or more goals, $4.60. Two goals last start, and two the game before that, and two the game before that again. Three straight at the market and they still want $4.60 about him.
Harley Reid 25 or more disposals, $1.82. Twenty nine disposals last start off the back of a 34, and he’s been at 25 or more in each of his last three. The ball finds him whatever the scoreboard is doing, so at $1.82 I’m happy to build off him.
Jobe Shanahan two or more goals, $2.08. Back to a pair last start, and he’s landed two or more in four of his last seven with a couple of threes in there. That’s a bloke who gets his chances, not one hoping for a lucky one.
Tom Cole to kick a goal, $2.20. A goal in four of his last seven, and none of those were flukes of a big day out, just the one he keeps turning up with. Even money and a bit more at $2.20 for a habit that regular is fair value.
Ryan Angwin to kick a goal, $2.95. A goal in three of his last seven, including a two, and I’ve got Greater Western Sydney winning by about 42 at ENGIE Stadium. When a side gets out that far the goals get shared around, and $2.95 is longer than a bloke who scores that often deserves.

| Our Tip | Multi: Greater Western Sydney Giants -31.5, Over 168.5 points & Harley Reid 25+ Disposals @ $6.57 |
| Predicted Score | GWS Giants 108 – West Coast Eagles 66 |
I’m tipping Greater Western Sydney to win by around 42 points at ENGIE Stadium. West Coast have been beaten in each of their last five and conceded a hundred or more twice in that run.
My headline multi at $6.57 rolls the line and total in with a player prop, Harley Reid 25+ Disposals. On its own, Greater Western Sydney Giants -31.5 at $1.89 is the anchor.
Reid was cleared this week after a corked leg. He makes West Coast better and he does not change my number, because he had 29 touches against Collingwood and they still lost by nineteen.
The match is at ENGIE Stadium in Sydney, bouncing down at 1:40pm AEST on Sunday 16 August 2026.
