Melbourne vs Carlton Prediction
Carlton are favourite and I’m not going to argue with…

The Suns have lost five straight. The last time these two met, in Round 8, they beat GWS by twenty. The gap between what Gold Coast were that day and what they are now is where the value sits at Manuka on Sunday.

The market has GWS at $1.30 and hands you a 19.5 start with the Suns. I have got the winner right and the line about a goal and a bit too long. Two sides going nowhere, and one of them is priced like the gap between them is bigger than it is.
These two met in Round 8 and Gold Coast won it by twenty. I am not going to pretend that did not happen. But Gold Coast turn up here beaten in each of their last five, and GWS got the job done against Port Adelaide last start. Same fixture, two different teams.
Backing GWS on the line means finding better than three goals, and that is not this game. Gold Coast keep losing tight ones: three of their last five defeats came by under two goals. They are not being pulled apart, they are just falling short. I will take the points.
GWS have their captain back in. Gold Coast have managed three players out for the trip to Canberra, which tells you plenty about where their season sits. That is why the head to head at $1.30 feels short rather than generous. It does not get me to three goals and change, so the line stays with the Suns at +19.5.
Here is my position on the weather, and every leg agrees with it: a cold, wet afternoon at Manuka is not the same thing as a slog. The total is set low for the forecast and I think that is too much. Both these sides have been in high scoring games lately and neither defends well enough to hold this under 146.5, shower or no shower. I want the over.
The multi at $4.65 is Gold Coast +19.5, the over 146.5 and Noah Anderson 25 or more disposals. My read is that GWS get there without covering, which is exactly the game that lands the line leg. On their own I will take the head to head at $1.30 and the over 146.5 at $1.87, because 146.5 is a rain number and I do not think a bit of Canberra drizzle earns it.
GWS win this game without covering, so the value is the Giants getting there and Gold Coast staying inside the number. The risk is honest enough: Gold Coast already knocked them over once this year and they own the taps, so if the Suns get first hands to it all day I am in trouble. At these prices I will wear it.
Max Gruzewski to kick a goal, $1.38. A goal in two of his last four, and I have GWS getting the job done in Canberra, which means the ball spends more time down his end. At $1.38 he only has to snag one.
Xavier O’Halloran 20 or more disposals, $1.59. He has built into it with 23 and 22 in the last two after a couple of quieter ones, so the trend is going the right way. With the total shaping to go past 146.5 there is ball to be won, and 20 or more at $1.59 is the sensible side of it.
John Noble 25 or more disposals, $1.36. Thirty four touches last start, on top of a 33 and a 30 in the same run, so the ceiling is not in question. He has got to 25 or more in four of his last seven and $1.36 is a fair ask for that kind of output.
Noah Anderson 25 or more disposals, $1.31. The 43 and the 33 in this run tell you what he does when the game opens up, and 25 or more has landed in four of his last seven. He is the prop leg I roll into the multi, and $1.31 is what a steady one costs.
Ben King two or more goals, $1.70. Two goals last start and a three the week before, so he is scoring in bunches right now. Two or more has come up in three of his last seven, and if the scoring beats that 146.5 like I reckon it will, $1.70 is the best value on the board.

| Our Tip | Multi: Gold Coast Suns +19.5, Over 146.5 points & Noah Anderson 25+ Disposals @ $4.65 |
| Predicted Score | GWS Giants 96 – Gold Coast Suns 84 |
I am tipping GWS to win by about 12 points at Manuka. They bring more forward half pressure and the Suns have lost five in a row, though Gold Coast did win the Round 8 meeting between these two.
My headline multi at $4.65 rolls the line and total in with a player prop, Noah Anderson 25+ Disposals. On its own, Gold Coast Suns +19.5 at $1.90 is the anchor.
The match is at Corroboree Group Oval Manuka in Canberra, kicking off at 1:10pm AEST on Sunday 9 August 2026.
